Teej Festival is a festival in Jaipur that is women centric that is dedicated to Goddess Parvati. This festival honours goddess Gaurai and lord Shival.  During this festival the cerebrations take is days with the most elaborate cerebration taking place in Jaipur. During the festival women carry some   beautiful idols of the deities through the city accompanied by the folk dances and musicians.  The festival is finalized by a grand parade near Tripolia gate where royal family traditionally participated.

  1. Kalbeliya Dance

Recognized by the UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage, Kalbeliya Dance is performed by the Kalbeliya tribe which are the traditional snake charmers.  During the dance the dancers put on the back swirling skirts, move with hypnotic grace as they mimic the serpentine snakes. To add  more taste to the exciting experience the dance is accompanied by music played on the pingi and a dholak. You can watch this dance in Rajputana Ballroom (Rambagh Palace).

Bhavai Folk Drama is a fork theatre that blends dance drama and satire.  During this drama the performers usually balance the pots on their heads as they dance on glass pieces or swords as they showcase great skill and balance. Yu can witness this show at Ravindra Manch Theatre and Evening shows at Amer Fort.


  1. Kathputli (Puppet Shows)

Rajasthan’s Kathputli also known as string puppet shows are enchanting cultural experiences.  During the show these handcrafted puppets enact folk tales, historical battles and comedic sketches accompanied by lively music and narration. You can witness this shows Jaipur Puppet Show at Hawa Mahal area or Bagore Ki Haveli (near Amer Fort).
